¿Qué debo saber de Praia?

Praia is the capital city of Cape Verde, located on the southern coast of Santiago Island. It has a rich history as a major trading post and was an important center for the transatlantic slave trade. The city has a unique culture that blends African and Portuguese influences, which can be seen in its architecture, music, and cuisine.

Speaking of cuisine, Praia is known for its seafood dishes, including grilled fish, lobster, and octopus. Visitors can also try traditional dishes like cachupa, a stew made with beans, corn, and meat or fish.

To explore the city and its surroundings, visitors can use taxis or buses. The climate is generally warm and dry, with temperatures ranging from the mid-20s to low 30s Celsius.

To enter Cape Verde, visitors need a valid passport and may need to obtain a visa depending on their nationality. Safety is generally not an issue in Praia, but visitors should take normal precautions to avoid petty theft.

Communication is easy, as most people speak Portuguese and Creole. The local currency is the Cape Verdean escudo, but Euros are also accepted in many places.
